I don’t know about you, but there is something about sitting in a warm house with a cup of hot cocoa watching a blustery snow storm that really warms my heart. It brings back fond memories of childhood: sledding, snow
men people, snow-ball fights…ahh…the good ol’ days. As an adult though, snow storms like these really make me appreciate Spring that much more.
So, as the calender turned to April this year and afternoon highs approached the upper 60’s, Missy and I flung open the windows and began our much needed spring cleaning. So…you can imagine our surprise when we left church and walked out into this:
Yep. That’s right. Here in Iowa on Sunday, April 5, 2009, there is a formidable blizzard occuring…not afternoon high’s in the upper 60’s. Ugh…I thought we were finished with this stuff for another year! But, as I have found out over the past three and a half years of living in Iowa: one thing you can never count on is the weather, and if you don’t like it, stay a while because it will soon change!
Anyway, I’m also heading to Chicago for a few days for work, so pray that I make it safely! When I scheduled the trip, I wasn’t counting on dodging a blizzard on my way! Even Hobbes doesn’t know what think (you can’t really tell, but that is one of our cats in the door window)…
