It’s a Miracle!

Oh, the miracles of technology!

That’s what my grandfather said when he saw his great-grand daughters for the first time.

Only I don’t think he was talking about the girls.  At least…not directly.

No, he was talking about the fact that even though he was over 1,000 miles away from Des Moines, he was still able to see Sienna, Rowan, and Jovie while they slept in the NICU of Mercy Hospital.  And I just wanted to let you know that it was awesome.

Ten years ago things like this weren’t possible.  Unless they physically flew out here themselves, the only way my family would get to see these girls would be in pictures sent through the mail (or e-mail…with really slow dial-up connections).  Yet now, thanks to things like Skype and iChat, we can dial them up on the computer and instantly hold a face to face conversation with them.  So even though nothing will ever replace being here with them in person, having this technology at our figure tips has certainly taken the sting out of being so far away from people like my grandfather and the rest of our family.

Just one more reason to be thankful this May.
