Snapshots | Seasons Greetings

December 7, 2011 | “Seasons Greetings” | Des Moines, Iowa

The holiday season is officially in full-tilt, and each year I look forward to seeing this stubbornly outdated grocery store minutes from my office go all-out with it’s no-nonsense lights, garlands, and wreaths…something the more modernized branches on the other side of town have long-since ceased doing. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it’s just that this bit of nostalgia lighting up the dark winter nights is truly a heart warming sight to see. Seriously, doesn’t it feel like you could pick up this store and drop it in 1957 without missing a beat?

Each holiday season I promise myself that I will stop and take a picture…yet each year passes without one. No more! Here’s the colorized version, which is just as good…

Not much more to add here really, which is what I guess these “Snapshots” post are all about, right? More soon!
