Hooray for another week of failed expectations!
For real though…Lola’s night time routine has been pretty whack lately, seriously cramping my blog style. We’re finally beginning to sleep train her, but how can we let this sweet face…
…scream and cry longer than ten seconds before rushing in to scoop her up and reassure her? I know, I know…she is going to have to learn to self-sooth sooner or later. But how can I complain with what we’ve got going on now? Once she’s down for the night we don’t hear from her again until 6:30 on a good morning.
Anyway…all excuses aside, one of these days I’m going to stop making promises unless I know with absolute certainty that I can keep them.
What They Don’t Teach You in Art Class
You know that Missy never ceases to amaze me with all her creative ideas that she comes up with on a daily basis to entertain the troops…but this one might take the cake.
When life gives you a Salad Spinner and Crayola paint…
…you just have to make spin art!
Genius! Just remember, if you try this at home…make sure your paint is water soluble! Comes out like a charm 😉
Braving blustery winds and (despite the bright sun) unseasonably chilly temperatures, we made our annual pilgrimage to Howell’s Tree Farm & Pumpkin Patch on Sunday with the crew for our Agritourism fill:
Shannon, Cindy, and even Grandpa Steve made the trip with us too! (At this time of year, Steve is usually in the field pickin’, but was able to join us this time due to the summer drought and early harvest.)
Since the girls were a year older than our last effort, they were able to enjoy a lot more of the fun-tivities available for kids on the farm. Like the pedal go-karts…
….and the Corn Maze (with Combine-turned-observation deck…)
And of course, all the other fun things the ‘Patch had to offer!
Oh, and Lola-Bean was a TROOPER!
There was even some more…adult…fun to be had…
But that never manages to last for long 😉
Oh well, their smiles alway make up for it 😀
Such a great way to end the weekend. I have about three dozen more pictures to show off…look for them on Facebook soon (I hope…).
- We still don’t have a lawn yet. And we still don’t have any rain…so we’re constantly watering…the amount of mud we’re dealing with is getting a little ridiculous.
- Make-Your-Own Pizza Nite: Awesome. Definitely will need a repeat.
- I’ve watched more baseball over the course of this past week than I have the entire season. I’ve gotta say, it’s a lot more fun when you’ve got a team in the fight, and Friday night as the O’s beat the Rangers to win their first playoff game in 15 years, I was jumping for joy and grinning from ear to ear. Now those dreaded Yankees are in town…and high drama has ensued. There aren’t many things in this life better than playoff baseball in October!
In fact, I’m off to finish watching them play game two…have a great week, and GO O’S!
