Before We Forget…

Before December fades too far from our memories and the holiday hangover officially sets in, there is one more itty-bitty, little, tiny event that I didn’t want to forget telling you about…

Lola’s Baptism!

Amidst all the parties, celebrations, and other such hullabaloo, we kicked off the holiday season with the baptism of Lola Margaret on December 9, 2012 at Lutheran Church of Hope.

The ceremony was full, with six other families present to witness and/or receive baptisms themselves. Side note: I used to secretly dislike the way Hope, a bigger church, ran its baptismal services…a separate service that was almost like an assembly line, so I thought. I just wanted the full, traditional service with the christening held in the middle of it all.

Then I remembered back to our time in Ghana, where we held baptisms…for over 40 adults, mind you…in a hotel swimming pool.

Yeah, you could say it was pretty eye-opening.

But anyway, I digress. Lola’s day was nothing short of fantastic. From pre-ceremony photo-ops…

…to the baptism itself, everything was just as I could have imagined it. Lola was a perfect angel, donned in a white gown hand-made by grandma Mona! Here’s the full sequence, which is perfection:

And of course, the post-ceremony pictures are priceless. Pastor Jeremy Johnson was the officiant…

And we chose Ms. Bridget Purdy, one of our closest pals, to be Lola’s god-mother/sponsor. We couldn’t have asked for a better person for the job:

And it was back to our place for an intimate lunch with close friends and family! Missy went all out with a few new soup recipes (perfect for a cold, snowy day)…

…and delicious homemade rolls, which were amazing…see!

Well…like I said: the day was perfect…

…and we are so blessed to have such great friends and family in our lives to help us welcome Lola into the church!
