In the span of about ten days, we’ve gone from an average temperature hovering around 10 degrees and a four-inch snow pack to highs in the 50’s and brown, barren ground as far as the eye can see. Which, while not the prettiest sight in the world, means that spring has sprung! Or, is at least springing.
But this switch daylight savings though…the struggle is real!
At least it’s lighter later, and we’ve been quick to take advantage. We were able to get some major outdoor time in this weekend, as well as assess how Poppy’s Playhouse held up over the winter (spoiler alert: like a rock, because Poppy is boss. Let’s get real: that thing could probably withstand a tornado).
We also dug out the bikes and knocked the dust off after having spent five months stowed away in the garage.
Big news: Missy found a bike trailer on major sale at Target (we’ve been eyeing them for a while) so she snapped it up and assembled it just in time for our first outing of the season.
I can’t even begin tell you how good for the soul even a quick, 20-minute, post-supper bike ride felt after being cooped up all winter long.
As a bonus, the sunset on our way back was absolutely stunning.
Just God’s little reminder that the cold, dark winter won’t last forever. Bring on spring…we’re soooo ready!
(Don’t worry, trailer riders wore their helmets too. This was taken right after a “shift change”…the older girls had to take turns pedaling and riding ;-))
