***The Final Edition!***
We’ve just passed a huge milestone here in the Hardinge house, and I really want to tell each and every one of you about it. Yet trying to find an eloquent way to talk about your child potty-training has proved to be…a bit of a challenge.
But here it goes:
For the past three weeks we’ve been potty training Lola. Progress came slowly at first, but then it seemed that everything happened all at once. It was like she had to be the one to decide that it was time to use the potty rather than Missy and I encouraging her to do so.
Two thumbs up!
After our first few successful attempts, my text convo stream with Missy was flooded with pictures of a proud Lola, standing beside her accomplishment.
The weird thing was that #2 came first…
Then, just like before, she flipped a switch and decided going #1 on the potty was OK too.
Lola was so excited that she even had to show it off to her friends…
To which said friend reached out yelling “SNACK!”…right before some quick-thinking adult intervention.
Side note:18 month olds think everything is edible.
Oh! Then just this past weekend, Lola decided that using the actual toilet wasn’t such a bad thing…so just like that, our baby girl is practically potty trained! Of course, Lola is still rocking her pull-ups to bed, but she is waking up dry every morning.
I think Missy did a pretty decent job of summing up our mutual feeling last week:
So after five long (yet not-so-long) years, Missy and I live in a diaper free house. Let the celebrations begin!
P.S. Lola, if you’re reading this many years from now and mortified that these pictures exist…forgive me. We’re just too proud of you not to share!
